The Public Radio Player offers streaming audio from public radio stations across the United States. The Player currently offers more than 500 station streams and 1,000 on-demand programs. The app has been downloaded millions of times and has ranked as one of the top free apps on iTunes since its debut in the fall of 2008.

Public Radio Exchange (PRX) is responsible for the development of the Public Radio Player. The project is supported in part by a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and originated from a collaboration run by PRX in partnership with NPR, American Public Media and Public Radio International, with participation from Doc Searls and Project VRM at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University. PRX continues to work with stations, producers, networks, and listeners for advisory input on the Public Radio Player.

Always something good to listen to (5 stars)
Love the on demand option. Now I'll never miss a week of Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me and This American Life. Now if I could have What d'ya Know, this app would be perfect. Ran great on 3G on iPhone 4 while driving.

Why so glum? (5 stars)
I have had nothing but positive experiences with this app. It works well and the sort by program means I can always find news or music. The only downfall is that I feel obligated to give to more public radio stations now!

Fantastic app, except for that darn alarm (3 stars)
I love, love, love NPR, and I travel a lot, so this app is great for listening to my local station no matter where I am. I love the On Demand shows, the sleep timer, and the sorting options.

BUT I made the mistake of setting the alarm ONCE and it won't turn off! I've tried turning it off, changing the time, uninstalling and reinstalling, etc. etc. And still, it goes off every day! I wish the developer would fix or just get rid of th
