Ko Horomatangi te Taniwha Rangatira or Horomatangi the Chiefly Taniwha is a story from Ngati Tuwharetoa, of the Taupo District in Aotearoa (New Zealand).

Horomatangi is a well-known taniwha who resides in Lake Taupo. Taniwha are legendary creatures that live in deep pools or rivers, some are highly regarded as kaitiaki or guardians, whilst others were dangerous predators.
