The game Crossword enriches the word stock and develops logical thinking. The principle of making words as a crossword is at the basis of the game. The crossword is made out of any words of English.

Two players and more are taking part in the game. Before the beginning of the game the players set the priority of movements. The player who takes the most score wins. The words are made strictly horizontally or vertically and should be read from left to right or from top to bottom.

During one movement it is possible to make several words out of 7 game pieces. It is impossible to make new words on a free field without connection to the previous words. New words should include the previous word, letter or letters from the neighbouring words.

At the beginning of the game the player receives 7 game pieces. The first compiled word is located horizontally or vertically so that one of its letters coincides with the central square of the field.

The player counts the score for the word compiled and adds necessary number of game pieces. The player, whose turn is now, makes new words, adding one or several letters to the word or to the letters located on the field. A universal game piece- * can take the meaning of any letter. The player who was not able (or does not want to due to tactic reason) make any word, at his wish saying change has the right to replace any number of his/her game pieces (0-7) for new ones thus passing the move.

Score calculation:

The sum of score for a player is added from:
a) a sum of scores for the compiled words;
b) bonuses received for placing letters on bonus squares.
Bonus squares for a letter: The number of points for the letter located on the green square is doubled, on the yellow-trebled. Bonus squares for words: If one of the letters in the word is located on the blue square then the points for the whole word is doubled and if it is on the red square then the points are trebled. If the letters of the word are simultaneously located on bonus squares of letters and words, then a bonus for the letter is scored first and the then a bonus for the word.

Bonuses for the word are calculated only for the player who was the first to take bonus squares.

Number of points for the letters: A1, B3, C3, D2, E1, F4, G2, H4, I1, J8, K5, L1, M3, N1, O1, P3, Q10, R1, S1, T1, U1, V4, W4, X8, Y4, Z10.
